FQCB Top 3 Picks Announcement plus 10th entry was made for Theme #8 wagon and or animal

Howdy! FarmQuest is happy to announce the Top 3 Picks for Theme #8!

Competition ended at 12:30am July 27, 2022. The theme duo requirements were given a new "and/or" flexibility option. #8 theme was wagon and/or animal.

Back to the business of who are Top 3. There were a whopping 10 entries and these talented crafters are appreciated for supporting FarmQuest. I hope everyone returns for Theme #9.

By order of entry, the Top 3 Picks are:

Entry #2 by Sarah T=

This little bunny with glasses is too adorable! And I think it is marvelous how Sarah paired it with the muted tones to contrast with the brighter hues used to color that cute bunny! It's a hoppy/happy card!!!

AND

Entry #3 by Melanie H=

Another adorable card with pets showing their patriotic support! Melanie was able to use both theme elements in this darling image! She even kept as CAS style. The embossed stars are a delightful touch that also serve to anchor/ground the wagon. This card is purr-fect!

AND

Entry #7 by Asha K=

Asha K (Savyakala) submitted 2 entries. This one's humorous setting of a fox enjoying his beachside location brought a smile to my face! The soft muted tones work perfectly for this summer inspired card! It's certainly foxie with some moxie! :)

Three wonderful busy talented artisans get Top 3 honors for FarmQuest Theme #8! Thanks again, Sarah T, Melanie H, and Asha K!!!

and for many challenges now I've had a goal for the challenge blog to get to 10 entries and you all did it for this Theme #8!!! The Inlinkz tool closed with 10. #10 was entered by Granmargaret (Margaret Ashby). As I promised many challenges ago, I will be sending a prize of 2 rolls of metallic micro-thin decorative tape to you through snail mail for having the 10th submission for this challenge! WOO-HOO!!!

Granmargaret's card followed a great sketch to feature 3 sweet little festive scenes. Two of the scenes have animals. There is a horse-drawn sleigh on the left and the cute puppies on the right. This card reminds us of warm cozy and sometimes furry moments of the holidays!

Appreciatively, Becca S (FQCB owner)

This is what I shared back in April. So one set/card with 2 thin rolls will be mailed to the 10th submission artist.

PS. Make sure to catch the release of Theme #9 in less than 1 hour!!!

Guest Designer Karen Letchworth's theme interpretation is=

Karen opted to use the butterfly clip as her animal and not have a wagon. She's filled the card with lots of gardening, farmhouse, vintage folk art/home economics elements that pack tons of charm!!!

Absolutely darling! Thanks so much, Karen!

FQCB owner Becca's theme interpretation is=

A few credits to share are: (1) teal/aqua barn siding with chevron stripe paper is part of my last scrap section (The Paper Studio); (2) "life is better in the country" was cut from an ephemera piece; (3) the "TOY" stamp is  (2001 Stampin' Up); (4) the stars print and acorn print scraps (Lake Life paper pad); (5) the golden yellow scrap (My Mind's Eye--?); (6) the white with black short marks print is recycled/upcycled inside business envelope security paper!!! YES!!!; (7) covered wagon is free clipart printable (ClipArt Library website); and the shaggy longhorn in front of the wagon is a rub-on transfer!!!!

A tidbit to learn about Becca S:

I lived in metro Dallas, TX for two years before the big suburban sprawl. I used to take Saturday or Sunday drives to the 'little' farm towns like Parker, Wiley, and Sachse. I've toured the ranch house where the 80s-90s TV show "Dallas" was filmed. I also got to stand about 75 feet from a park scene being filmed in the North Dallas/Highland Park area that actress Victoria Principal was part of. That was super cool! I only watched for an hour. The crew was there for several hours but later in the episode, only about 3-5 seconds worth of that park scene were actually used!!! I was just 22-24 years old and came back to the Midwest after that brief time.

FQCB Theme #8 Wagon AND OR Animal starting 14 July 2022

Howdy! Yee-haw! Welcome to the farm--

FarmQuest Challenge Blog!

Theme #8

starts July 14, 2022 at 12:30am CT/Chicago or 6:30 am UK

and

ends July 27, 2022 at 12:30am CT/Chicago or 6:30am UK.

Required elements=

*use a wagon

AND/OR

*use an image/print of an animal(s)

This is definitely a rural set of topics, whether you go ranching, farming, gardening, backyard with pets or frontier. The EITHER OR AND is now available with the theme elements and hopefully this will increase participation. Can't wait to see how FQCB readers will interpret the theme options for #8!!!

Guest Designer for Theme #8 is Lori Barrett-Stroup, scrap layout and card maker extraordinaire!!! Lori has chosen to just use a wagon/hay wagon for her TN layout.

Guest Designer Inspiration Project:

What a wonderful layout and I'm thankful to see both red and green tractors in the border!!! Talk about a debate subject amongst the men in my extended family!!! My father had an Allis Chalmers dealership for a few years when I was a youngster and even was a John Deere salesman before that and years after that! So it's difficult for me to go with red, green or orange. To make it worse my husband has owner Minneapolis-Moline (yellow) and Ford (gray)!!!--reflection by Becca

Lori always has the best Travelers Notebook layouts! If you need inspiration and motivation, check out her blog to see more of them.

___________

GD's profile info:

Lori's TN layout was inspired by her childhood memories of summer hay being mowed and baled. Isn't that the cutest little tractor with hay wagon border you've seen?!!!

Lori's blog sidebar has links to her crafty endeavors like The Great Stash Bash and TN Times with Lisa and Lori.

FQCB owner Becca's Inspiration Project:

I've chosen to use a wagon and some cows. I went for a western US frontier ranch/farm look with the covered wagon clipart (ClipArt Library website) and the cow rub-on transfers. Barn siding chevron striped paper (The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby). The star and acorn scraps (Lake Life paper pad). The golden yellow and white scrap (My Mind's Eye-?). The white with little black line geometric print is recycled/upcycled interior business envelope---YES! Twine is the only embellishment. And old black lettering stickers for the simple sentiment.

FQCB Top 2 Picks for Theme #7 Announcement

Howdy! FarmQuest is happy to announce the Top 2 Picks for Theme #7!

Competition ended at 12:30am July 13, 2022. The theme duo requirements were using a barrel image and 1 of these--bucket, pitcher, or watering can.

The new #8 theme will be published in under 30 minutes once this gets released! I'm staying up late. We did 3 hours of babysitting tonight with only a 15 minute warning! :)

Back to the business of who are Top 2. There were only 2 entries and these talented crafters have been very supportive of FarmQuest. I am very appreciative of their loyalty. Please leave some loving comments for them.

Entry #1 by Katrina Brown=

The rusty sparkle on the barrel bands is just incredible. And all the amazing country life details that got placed with the barrel and watering can just add lots of charm. Even posing a cow figurine and having some barn siding behind the card just pack on more farm country accents!!! So clever!

AND

Entry #2 by Kelly Sullins-Joehrs=

I tried twice to save her card photo but it's not letting me, so I'm including her Instagram address for this particular card. I hope this is an acceptable way to do this, Kelly.

Two wonderful busy talented artisans get Top 2 honors for FarmQuest Theme #7! Thanks again, Katrina and Kelly!!!

FQCB REMINDER Theme #7 using a barrel and a watering can or pitcher or bucket

Howdy! Glad you all are here at the farm--FarmQuest that is!!!

It's the midway point for Theme #7 challenge that started on June 28th.

Competition ends at 12:30am Central Time/Chicago on July 13, 2022.

Participants may enter 3 new themed projects to each FQCB challenge.

Theme #7 required pair of elements are:

*barrel (water, wine, whiskey, pickle barrel...)

AND

*watering can/sprinkling or pitcher or a bucket

Guest Designer for Theme #7's REMINDER post is= Mags B or Maggie Brinkley

Some personal info about Mags shared on her blog: from the UK; She volunteers at her church to help with a baby club and a toddler club. Her interests are birdwatching, cricket, cross stitch, needlepoint, writing, and reading besides terrific cardmaking.

She's on several design teams and we are very lucky that she's made this card for FarmQuest!

Inspiration project from Guest Designer Mags:

Mags shared a few lines with me about how she created this cute cottage/farmhouse scene: The card is mostly made with images fussy-cut from an old Stamperia paper pad; I made the water barrel by transferring an image onto card that I stamped with a woodgrain background by Altenew then added shading by sponging Distress Inks on top.  The bands are cut from silver card.

Very clever and such a cute setting. Looks like a wonderful home that is very active with abundant flowers, worn work boots, more than 1 watering can and their own water barrel! Marvelous!

Her blog is Madcap Manor=

Owner, Becca S, inspiration project for Theme #7=

A few credits are: Simple Stories card kit   (for the background paper panel, the sentiment focal, the boots and watering can ephemera); purple glitter butterfly die-cut is from Studio 112 for Spotted Canary; the yellow layered butterfly has been in my stash for awhile; and the barrel is free clipart image from Clipart Library website that I printed on kraft paper and applied gold stamp pad ink. The white card base is from the kit. The 2 required elements are stacked on the right side which with the other elements and prints gives a spring outdoor garden look to this greeting card!
