FQCB Theme #21 Hay/Straw Barnraisers Announcement

Announcement: FarmQuest Theme #21 had just 2

entries. In the midst of Valentine's Day preparations, going country with hay/straw wasn't a popular topic option.

But thanks to 2 very loyal supportive talented artisans for tackling Theme #21!

Congrats to Granmargaret and Katrina B (Scrappyhorses)!!

Here's some small peeks at their hay/straw interpretations:

#2 entry = Katrina B

#1 entry = Granmargaret

-----Xx---//---xX---\\-----

These are fantastic farm country interpretations for hay/straw!! They are outstanding! I'm so glad they participated. Thank you both!

--------------------------------------------

Theme #22 will be launched in about 3.5 hours from when this will be published. So make sure to look for it on Tuesday February 14th!

--------------------------------

Also if you haven't seen any FB postings this week, I started a spin-off blog called FarmQuest General Store blog. It is a month-long anything farm country goes theme competition that started Theme #1 on February 7th. It will be open until March 5th. So there's plenty of time to enter. Lots of topic suggestions are given in #1 post and on the sidebar of the blog. There's a link on the blog sidebar of FQCB to get there quickly. We'd love to have you. And you're allowed to double-dip--participate in the themed FQCB topic then come over to FQGS. You may participate at both blogs for 3 times per challenge. FQGS accepts the same formats as FQCB and HQCB.

Hope to see you at the farm!

and

Card #2 flat card (approx. 4" deep x 6.75" wide)

[theme #21 requirement(s) = loose hay for hayride image sized 2 ways= smaller for Card #1 and larger for Card #2]

Colored pencils were used for the images trying to give a sunset look to the sky background and to have the horses and wagon straddling between dirt and grass.

Go back and take a look at the launch post from January 28th to see what the DT created! Some great interpretations for #21!

[Theme #21 requirements: hay/straw bale]

Caw! Caw!! What a cute and clever little crow that is sitting on this straw bale!!! The sentiment is ultra clever! Brilliant! Diane's created a cute little spot that seems like it's plucked out of Farmer Brown's field or from behind his barn!

[Theme #21 requirement= image has storks standing on haystacks]
Doesn't this image make you feel transported to a different country or time period? I really like this historical and cultural card! I think a lot of folks have felt like nesting due to Covid and different variants. Seems like no matter what age we are, we want our homes to be super comfy, a refuge for hibernating or solace.

from DT member Dottie S=

[Theme #21 requirement = craft straw bale used in pickup truck bed]
This is so clever! The barn is gorgeous and the truck looks like an old farm work vehicle! The craft hay in the truck bed is genius!!!!

[Theme #21 requirement= image has hay in the loft/mow and a haystack outside against the barn; the uneven straw-colored mesh 'ribbon' for an accent]
I've used this straw mesh for a chicken/poultry theme challenge about 18 themes ago. I just really enjoy using it for my FQCB projects! The clipart is a free image and I love it because there's not only hay in the loft, there's a stack with a pitchfork sitting outside the barn!

Thanks, gals for providing incredible range of Theme #21 projects!
